Utah ranked as the top state in the U.S. for remote-job growth, followed by Colorado, the District of Columbia and Washington state, according to an analysis published by CareerCloud.

Mississippi rated last in the study. The website ranked states based on three criteria: employment per 1,000 jobs in a selection of remote-friendly occupations, projected growth rates in these jobs through 2028 and broadband access, CareerCloud said in the report.

Utah had the highest projected remote-job growth rate at 41.7 percent, with Colorado in second at 30.8 percent, the study said, citing the U.S. Department of Labor statistics.

The occupation of software developer ranked as the remote-friendly job with the highest employment in Utah, it added.
