More than three-quarters (86 percent) of employees in the United Arab Emirates want to telecommute full or part time,  Arabian News reported, citing a survey by Boston Consulting Group and Bayt.com.

About a third (31 percent) of the UAE workforce indicated in the poll that they don’t want to return to the office even after the pandemic ends, compared with 24 percent globally, according to the report.

“From a UAE standpoint, the pandemic has, for the most part, actually had a positive impact on work practices and processes,” Dr. Christopher Daniel, managing director and partner, BCG Middle East, was cited as saying in the study.

“Contrary to other results worldwide, the respondents did not experience any major difficulties with regard to their well-being and the vast majority embraced virtual environments,” he added. “Hence, many are open to recent changes becoming permanent due to sustained positive outcomes throughout this period.”
