Amazon.com has decided to delay bringing its U.S. corporate workers back to the office until January amid a surge in Covid-19 cases across the country, Reuters reported.
The company is extending its remote-work policy to Jan. 3, 2022, the news site said, citing an internal Amazon memo. The Seattle-based tech firm had planned for telecommuting staff to return to offices on Sept. 7, it added.
“As we continue to closely watch local conditions related to Covid-19, we are adjusting our guidance for corporate employees,” the note said, according to Reuters.
Amazon follows other tech giants including Google in delaying a return to offices or closing workspaces that had been reopened.
