By Almost half of workers worldwide plan to seek employment elsewhere or refuse a job if remote work in some form isn’t offered as an option, The Irish Times reported.
About 44 percent of job candidates say the lack of an option to work remotely — at least partially — is a deal breaker, the news site said, citing a survey by HRM Recruitment, an Irish executive search firm.
Those findings echo a similar international report by EY, a London-based consulting firm, which found that 54 percent of workers would leave their current positions if remote work was not an option, The Irish Times said.
In addition, six out of 10 workers want their company to make Covid-19 vaccinations mandatory before returning to the office, the HRM study found.
More than 70 percent of workers polled said a greater work-life balance was at the top of their agenda when deciding whether to accept a job interview, while 67 percent would only accept a position offering some flexibility, the report said. Only 10 percent want to return to the office full time after the pandemic ends.
HRM surveyed 1,900 workers across a range of professional areas, including technology, finance, marketing and science-related roles, while EY surveyed 16,000 workers across 16 countries, The Irish Time said.
