BNP Paribas will allow some bankers to work remotely at least half of the time even as some staff begin returning to the office, Bloomberg reported.

The remote-work plan will go into effect in September and telecommuting approval will be granted on the basis of an individual’s responsibilities at the firm, people familiar with the matter told the news site

In Paris, “remote work, of course, will be voluntary and will depend on the personal environment of each employee,” a BNP Paribas spokeswoman wrote in an email obtained by Bloomberg.

Deutsche Bank AG and Italy’s UniCredit SpA also plan to allow employees to work remotely at least some of the time, Bloomberg wrote.
